aDermatoloji ABD, bPatoloji ABD, Zonguldak Karaelmas Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi, ZONGULDAK Lymphangioma circumscriptum is a rare benign disorder of no specific etiology involving the lymphatic channels. Lymphangioma circumscriptum can occur as either a congenital abnormality or as acquired damage to previously normal lymphatic channels. Although these lesions may occur on almost any part of the body, vulvar involvement is rare and up to now 35 cases have previously been reported. All of them have a similar clinical appearance with small gelatinous papulo-vesicular or warty lesions. We report a case of vulvar lymphangioma circumscriptum in a 58-year-old woman with a 20-year history of a gradually expanding vulvar mass. She had C/S operation and tubal ligation 30 year before. On examination it was seen a soft, skin-covered polypoid mass, about 1 cm in diameter, arising from the right labium majus. The mass was removed surgically. Histopathological examination of a specimen from the lesion showed epidermal hyperkeratosis, acanthosis, and dilated lymph vessels lined by a single layer of endothelial cells, in the upper dermis. Histopathological examination confirmed the diagnosis of lymphangioma circumscriptum. In the literature, all of the vulvar lymphangioma circumscriptum cases have been reported as multiple lesions. On the contrary, our case presented with only a solitary lesion at vulva. So we think that our case is worth being reported. Keywords: Vulva, lymphangiomaTurkiye Klinikleri J Dermatol 2008, 18:29-32
