aDermatoloji ABD, Selçuk Üniversitesi Meram Tıp Fakültesi, KONYA Objective: Some chronic urticaria patients present a whealing response to the autologous serum skin test (ASST).We aimed to reveal ASST positivity and the association of clinical parameters with ASST positivity in chronic urticaria in this study. Material and Methods: Ninety-seven patients with chronic urticaria and 46 control subjects underwent ASST. And some clinical parameters were evaluated to detect by any significant differences between ASST-positive and ASST-negative patients. Results: ASST positivity was detected in 34 (35.2%) patients and 3 (6.5%) control subjects. The visual analogue scores were similar in patients with positive and negative ASST. No significant relation was found between the ASST positivity and the clinical evaluation. Conclusion: We suggest that the ASST cannot be used alone either to predict the severity of urticaria or to define it as ‘autoimmune’.Keywords: Urticaria; skin testTurkiye Klinikleri J Dermatol 2008, 18:1-4
