Dermatoloji Ünitesi, Ankara Numune Eğitim ve Araştırma Hastanesi,bPatoloji AD, GATA, ANKARA Pseudoxantoma elasticum is a genetic disorder of connective tissue characterized by progressive mineralization of elastic fibers. The disorder consists of characteristic skin lesions, ocular involvement, and cardiovascular manifestations. The disease may be inherited as an autosomal dominant or autosomal recessive trait. The prevalence of pseudoxantoma elasticum was estimated at 1 in 100.000. Since it is a rare disorder, we present two cases of pseudoxantoma elasticum. Our first case was a 34-year-old woman who had grouped, yellowish papules on her neck, axillae and inguinal regions for 15 years, the second case was a 25-year-old woman with yellowish papules on her neck. We found no systemic involvement in detailed investigation in both of the cases. Because of these 2 cases, we reviewed the literature about the pseudoxantoma elasticum. Keywords: Pseudoxanthoma elasticum, connective tissue diseasesTurkiye Klinikleri J Dermatol 2007, 17:269-272
