Mycosis Fungoides, Clinical Variants And Subtypes
Dr. Ayten FERAHBAŞa
aDermatoloji AD, Erciyes Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi, KAYSERİ Mycosis fungoides is a peripheral non-Hodgkin T-cell lymphoma initially presenting in the skin. Among all of the primary cutaneous lymphomas, mycosis fungoides is the most common subtype. In the majority of cases with mycosis fungoides, the disease clinically evolves through four stages; the patch, plaque, tumour and erythroderma. The early lesions are frequently confused with other dermatoses, and diagnosis may be difficult. Recently, a considerable number of reports have documented mycosis fungoides mimicking other dermatoses. In the past, syphilis was called the great imitator, but recently clinical evidence strongly suggests that this appellation fits mycosis fungoides best. In this report, mycosis fungoides with atypical initiation and course, and clinical variants and subtypes of the disease were reviewed. Keywords: Mycosis fungoides, subtypes, clinical variantsTurkiye Klinikleri J Dermatol 2007, 17:242-251
