Melazma Tedavisinde %20 Azeleik Asit Ile %4 Hidrokinonun Etkinliğinin Değerlendirilmesi

In this study, we compared the efficacy of %20 azelaic
acid cream with %4 hydroquinone cream for a maximum
perod of 24 weeks in patients with melasma. Our
study included 40 women patients and they were divided
into two groups. 16 patients of the hydroquinone group
and 15 patients of the azelaic acid group completed the
trial. Treatments were applied topically twice daily and
the use of sunscreens were mandotary. Healing was
achieved in %60 of the patients treated with %4 hydroquinone
cream and in %42 of those treated with %20
azelaic acid cream. There was statistically significant difference
between two groups (p<0.05). In conclusion, we
found that hydroquinone was more effective than azelaic
