recalcitrant, extensive and chronic plaque psoriasis is
used widely. In this study, different therapy modalities of
PUVA have been applied in the treatment of chronic psoriasis
vulgaris. Sixty patients were divided into three
groups, consisting of 20 patients. PUVA treatment was
given twice veekly in Group 1, three times weekly in
Group 2 and four times weekly in Group 3 with the starting
dose of UVA chosen according to the skin type of the
patient. PUVA has been applied after 2 hours taken the
8-methoxypsoralen (8-MOP) at the dosage of 0.6 mg/kg.
Clearing of the psoriatic lesions more the 95% was regarded
as complete recovery.
At the of the treatment, the cure rates of Group 1 and
2 80% and Group 3 85% were observed. Mean number
of treatment and total UVA dosage at Group 1(15.4 and
88.6J/cm2) was found lower than Group 2 (20.7 and 97.7
j/cm ) and Group 3 (23.6 and 96j/cm2), Recovery time
was found shorter at group 3 than the others.
Our results indicated tha PUVA thearpy is an effective
choice in the treatment of psoriasis vulgaris. Twice
weekly PUVA therapy appears to be an effective and
