Doç. Dr. Nilgün ATAKAN* Yard. Doç. Dr. Ayşen KARADUMAN* Prof. Dr. Sevinç AKKAYA* HÜTF Dermatoloji ABD, ANKARA In psoriatic patients, effectiveness and tolerability of
the low dose cyclosporins treatment was studied and the
results were compared with the high dose regimen.
Cyclosporine was administered in the dose of 2.5
mg/kg/day for 3 months and 5 mg/kg/day for 1 month to
two different groups made up of 10 psoriatic patients.
At the end of. one month, patients on 5 mg/kg/day
dose improved by 87% to the beginning. In the low dose
group, this value varied according to the month of the
treatment. At the end of one month it was 74%, 87% at
the 2nd month, 92% at the end of the 3rd month.
In all patients, no serious side effect was observed in
clinical and laboratory examinations during the course of
the therapy.
At the end of the study, we decided that, low dose,
long duration cyclosporine treatment might be an effective
alternative way of treatment in psoriatic patients. Keywords: Psoriasis, low dose cyclosporine A,
