Uz. Dr .Bülent TAŞTAN*, Dr .Kerem BAYKAL*, Yard. Doç. Dr. Sadullah ÖZCAN*, Dr .Aziz AKSU** Gülhane Askeri Tıp Akademisi Dermatoloji ABD*,Patoloji ABD**, ANKARA Sebaceous hyperplasia is a benign sebaceous gland
tumor commonly seen in middle aged or older persons,
characterized by one or several, elevated, soft, yellowish
or skin colored, slightly umbilicated papules in areas of
maximal sebaceous activity such as the face. It is commonly
mistaken for a basal cell carcinoma in the clinical
differential diagnosis.
Here, a patient diagnosed as sebaceous hyperplasia
was examined by clinically and histopathologically. In addition
the importance of the clinical differential diagnosis
between sebaceous hyperplasia and basal cell carcinoma
is stressed, and also that of the clinicopathologic differential
diagnosis between sebaceous hyperplasia and
sebaceous gland tumors which might coexist with multipl
visceral carcinomas. Keywords: Sebaceous hyperplasiaT Klin Dermatoloji 1993,3:25-27
